Zoe-perry
Perry was born in Chicago to actors Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. The character Jackie Harris was played by her mother in both the two shows she starred in on Roseanne. Perry was forbidden to begin acting by her parents until she reached the age of adulthood because they were afraid of the stress it would cause. Perry was shy during high school and did not act. She began acting at Northwestern University to gain friends when she transferred to the university from Boston University. Following her graduation, Perry relocated in New York to search for television work landing small roles in shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent but homesickness brought the actress back to California which is where she discovered theater jobs. Perry was a part of Broadway with her mother in The Other Place with her mother in 2013. The show featured her father Kevin McKidd and Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize winning drama Anna Christie in 2015 on the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, West Los Angeles. Perry played a lead role in the drama's nine episodes from 2016 on ABC's drama The Family. She had a regular role in the ABC political drama Scandal that starred her dad. That same year she was cast as the younger model of Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) on Young Sheldon, a spin-off of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory again portraying a younger version of her mother's character. The actress was chosen for the role in spite of her strong familial connection to the character.
